January Favourites 2014

Hey everyone!

Its coming to the end of January, so that means I share with you my monthly favourites! Unlike last month I had more time to gather some things together which made it easier though once it came to the end of the month I then forgot what I bought at the start of the month (Haha). So here are my monthly favourites!

NYC 443 Purple Crush

NYC 437 Modern Love

Barry M 353 Ruby Glitter
Barry M 333 Multi Glitter

These are the products/accessories I have been using throughout the whole of January, some brand new and some I just decided to wear throughout the month.

*NYC 443 Purple Crush Lipstick - that I featured in my second post back in December 2013 is from Superdrug for £1.99. I decided to bring this up again as I thought that seeing as it is winter dark cold colours are usually the colours people wear so I thought I would wear my Purple Crush Lipstick this month on the cold winter days.

*NYC 437 Modern Love Lipstick - is a very elegant shade of pink, I found this good to use in the winter months as its compliments the look more and is fairly natural. I got this lipstick from Superdrug for £1.99

*Barry M 353 Ruby Glitter - I think is a fun type of glitter. I've seen a lot of people paint their nails black and some people use glitter to glam them up, well this glitter has black and pink glitter sequins in it which I find unique. I came across this nail polish in Superdrug for £2.99

*Barry M 333 Multi Glitter - I've been non stop wearing this nail polish all month! It's a black nail polish with small glitter bits in it and I've been wearing it out a lot. It's such a nice nail polish and I would recommend it to anyone who likes wearing black nail polish with glitter. It dries quickly and it also isn't a pain to get off as I think everyone knows the annoyance for trying to get glitter nail polish off. I came across this when I found the Ruby Glitter as they were next to each other, so it was also £2.99

*Fanta Lip Balm - This was one of my silly buys as you may call it. I was just purchasing some things when I saw lip balms just sitting by the till. If you haven't figured out already I think I have a slight obsession with lip balms. There were many flavours such as Coca Cola and Sprite but the Fanta one stood out to me more and I thought it would be a bit different to the fruit flavoured ones I've already got. The smell is lovely! I got this at Claire's Accessories for £3.50

*The Body Shop Mango Shower Gel - I mentioned this in The Body Shop Haul. I have been using this shower gel all month and the smell of mango is the most love warming smell. I got this shower gel when they were on offer at 4 for £10 but if you buy one its just £4 from The Body Shop

*Owl Earings - I got these owl earrings because not only did I need new ones anyway but they sparkled in the light a lot! And who doesn't like a little bit of sparkle?! I've been wearing them a lot and they are unbelievably cute, I got these from Claire's Accessories at £3.50

*Good Things Stop That Spot - I used a lot of the Good Things beauty product range, and when I say that I mean I have every single product that are in the shops. I just find their product range extremely good and this Stop That Spot treatment gel really works! I can actually feel its working which is even better. It gets rid of redness and almost makes the spot disappear! I wouldn't know what to do without it! I got this from Boots for around £5

*Good Things Five Minute Facial Mask - I use this facial mask about once a week on a sunday evening. It makes your face feel smoother (a lot smoother) and brightens your face, making it look clear. It really does work and you only have to leave the clay mask on your face for 5 minutes or until the mask has dried and then remove it. I really do love the Good Things Product range because you can see that their products do make a difference and they also do what they say on the back of the product, so I would seriously recommend this to anyone. I got this also at Boots for £5.99

*Iphone 4/4s Phone Case - I have an obsession with buying phone cases! I always like a good floral patter that's not got too much floral but the colours on this phone case that made it look pretty! I was recently scrolling through Tumblr when I came across one of the photos of an elephant drawing and I was shocked to see that they had the same phone case which you can see here. I got this from Claire's Accessories for £8.00

For film of the month I have chosen Percy Jackson and The Sea of Monsters as I really enjoyed the first film! I got the DVD at Sainsburys for about £7. It definitely is a must watch!

For music this month I have been non stop listening to Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood. The song is so catchy and I've been going to bed every night singing it in my head and then waking up in the morning still singing it in my head, that's how catchy the song is but I think this so is really cute as well!

I hope you have all enjoyed the first month of 2014! It's been a long busy month for me. I also hope you enjoyed my post and if you try any of these products be sure to comment what you thought about them!
Many thanks,

DIY Tumblr Inspired Photo Frame

Hello lovelies!

Today I would like to share with you my first DIY post. I'm really excited to show you it!
So before Christmas I went to Ikea and again I bought a photo frame which as you know from the other photo frame I got, I had no idea what to put in it. Then I thought that I didn't exactly need to use it as a photo frame, but I could put other things into it and as I was sitting on Tumblr for a good hour or so and I thought why not round up a few photos I like on there and frame them in the photo frame I had.

I think it looks really cute on my shelf. I used photos that pretty much shows my personality in a way and I really think it is eye catching. However you can take this DIY as far as you want, so if you have a bigger frame then use more pictures! Or you could make a wall art so you don't even have to purchase a frame! Its entirely up to you.

How to start!

It's a pretty straight forward DIY, but I'll still share with you how I did it.

1.) You want to start by opening a new word document, you can use any program you wish, I just found it easier on word.

2.) This step is completely up to you.
*If you have Tumblr then sign into Tumblr
*If you've wanted Tumblr then sign up to it! You can follow me here and come say hi!
*If you don't have Tumblr simply type for example 'vintage photography tumblr' into google images and the same sort of photos will come up! If you are doing this point the skip to Step 4

3.) Then you have to think of a theme. I went for a 'Soft Grunge' theme as I thought it showed my personality more but I could possibly change the photos in a few months. So once you have chosen the theme you want to go for open up Tumblr and in the search box type the theme you are after.

Here are some examples of what you'll find.

4.) Take a few minutes to browse through the tag you are looking for, I think it takes around 10 minutes just to get to the bottom depending how many photos have been tagged as your chosen theme.
As you are finding photos, copy and paste the ones you really like into your word document. You can arrange them how ever you want and how big you want the photos to be. My photo frame took was the size of an A4 piece of paper so it fit nicely, but you can arrange the photos to be smaller or bigger so don't panic if they aren't the right size!

This is my example of a Vintage theme collage.

6.) Finally print and frame it! Easy!

I hope you enjoyed my first DIY post! I'll try and make more DIY posts in the future for you as well! If you do give this a try post a photo on Instagram with the hashtag #JessicarDIY I would love to see what themes you do!

Thank you,

My Mascara Collection

Hey guys!

Now I am back at college I haven't had much time to post things which is a bit annoying! But I shall try my best to post when I can.
Today I thought I would show you my mascara collection. I can be fussy when it comes to mascara because I'm someone that likes the whole 'Bold Lashes' and 'Volume' type mascara's, but they actually have to make your eyes perfect and if I'm honest for many years I haven't settled on one mascara because to be fair they haven't impressed me enough but now I have found one and it really does do what it says on the product!

These are the current mascara's I have been using. Some have been used longer than others, as you can see I used the pink one a lot that the writing has actually come off the product!

These products are;
*NYC Big Bold Mascara Black from Superdrug for £2.49
*Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara Black from Superdrug for £4.99
*Rimmel Scandaleyes Lycra Flex Mascara Black from Superdrug for £4.99
*NYC Big Bold Volume Mascara Black from Superdrug for £2.49

I'll firstly talk about this mascara. I got an image from Google so you know what the mascara actually looks like seeing as mine has worn out. NYC make up collection seems to be a very quiet make up brand unlike Rimmel and Maybelline, and it being quite a inexpensive make up brand all their make up is pretty outstanding! I found the NYC Big Bold Mascara in black in Superdrug. I was so impressed with their nail polishes that I had to give other make up products of theirs a try, so I found this mascara. I was hooked to it for ages! I couldn't stop using it. NYC literally mean what they say when they write something on a product. Its so trust worthy! And it doesn't make your eyelashes clumpy, which is what I like to look out for most with mascara's.
I even came across the mascara in the Bliss Magazine February 2014 issue in the 'Nina Nesbitt' look. So for all you Nina Nesbitt fans or even if you like the 'Grunge but girly' look (I know I do) then I really would recommend using this mascara.

This Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara Black is the most recent mascara I have bought. I have bought many Scandaleyes mascara's before but where I discovered NYC's brand I gave Scandaleyes a rest. However with this one the name 'Retro' caught my eye. Retro is my number 1 favourite style along side vintage, whether it'll be fashion or decorations, just anything Retro I love. When I saw the advertisement on TV I was literally dying to buy this as the product it self looked eye catching and it has the modern retro design on it shall we say. The mascara isn't clumpy but I feel like you need to apply it more to get the volume you really want.
The brush is designed in a shape that starts off large and goes small towards the middle and then gradually gets a bit bigger. I found this easier to get nearer my inner corners of my eyes as the brush was quite small at that point.

I got the Rimmel Scandaleyes Lycra Flex Mascara Black not too long ago either. Though I was fairly disappointed with this one. Now I don't know if I am the only one who does this but to me mascara's have to be wet when I apply them, I know that mascara's can dry out as well but I feel like this mascara was a bit too dry and thick at an early stage which made the application difficult and as it was quite a thick mascara it made clumps so this is why it lead me to buying another mascara in the progress. But I still occasionally use it if I want to quickly apply more mascara.

I've saved the best till last! The NYC Big Bold Volume Mascara Black is my most favourite mascara I have ever used, you can totally see the difference when you apply the mascara. It really does give you a lot of volume which is what I like.
The brush is small with small bristles which don't leave clumps and works well to give the volume as sometimes I find that some mascara's have quite a thick brush and they tend to dry up quite easily and clump more where as small bristle brushes don't have that affect.
I definitely will be continuing to buy this mascara and will probably try out other products in the NYC make up range.

Thanks for the support and I will try and post more in the next few weeks. Seeing as it's Valentines next month I might do a few post related to that and maybe even a Valentine's Nail Art Guide as I have already planned some nail art designs that I'm excited to share to you!

Many thanks,

The Body Shop Haul

Hello my lovelies

So I want to start off the New Year with a haul. I visited The Body Shop not far from my local area and what first started off as just a browse, turned into purchasing a lot of things! Although I wasn't expecting to buy anything from there, what I did buy has amazed me and I've fallen in love with all these products and therefore I wanted to share them with you.

Even though it was a small purchase I can say that it was worth it! I've enjoyed using these shower gels. I like to always have a nice smelling shower gel, that way I know that there's a scent coming from the product instead of a plain shower gel that I have used.

So from The Body Shop I noticed these 4 shower gels. They were 4 for £10 which I thought was quite a good price.

I already purchased the Satsuma scented shower gel before but I purchased it again because I thought that it smelt so good! It was more the fact that once you've had a shower and left the bathroom for about 20 minutes it still smelt of Satsuma and I can honestly say that it was the most beautiful smell I have smelt, so I had to buy it again! Even my mum ended up buying it because she liked the smell of it too! (Haha)

I also got the Pink Grapefruit. I was standing in the shop smelling all the testers and this one just stood out to me. It was just one of those dreamy scents that you just think are so relaxing! I used it the other day and again it made the bathroom have a strong smell of Pink Grapefruit for ages and it smelt lovely! But what I find remarkable is that the sponge I used with it actually still smells of Pink Grapefruit which I find so loving! So I'll definitely purchase this one again!

I then got the Mango shower gel. I was smelling the tester and I was kind of feeling the whole 'tropical' feel and thought that if it was a really cold winters day the smell of a nice Mango shower gel would cheer me up! It smells really nice but I don't think the smell beats the Satsuma and Pink Grapefruit which is a bit sad revealing as I think Mango is a really nice smell and just gives me that summery feel.

I then got the Honeymania shower gel. Now for me I'm not really a honey sort of person, its just never really appealed to me to taste it, but I thought I would give it a go as a shower gel. I use the Honeymania every morning as I think its just something to use? I feel like everyone has something with Honey for breakfast so I just replace that with a shower gel! It really does wake you up in the morning.

I hope you are all enjoying your New Year. I'll try and post more often as well! If you have any requests for anything please don't hesitate to ask!
See you soon,

New Years OOTN

Happy New Year!

2014 has finally arrived!

I hope you all enjoyed your New Years night and were out partying! 2013 has finally left us and its now 2014, a year to start a fresh new page of a 365 paged book! And what a lovely year I can see it being!

As this is my first outfit post I'm going to share with you what I wore out this New Years Eve! This year I went for the 'Going out' with a bit of 'Grunge' look, as where I was going had 3 rock bands playing as well as club music. This was probably my favourite outfit and I got a lot of compliments for it! I felt so good about it so I thought I would share this outfit with you as well so you can also feel good about yourself when you go out next!

This is the dress I wore. Its lacey at the top and slightly silky at the bottom! It is well fitted which is what I really like about it, so you won't have to worry about it being a bit big on the waist or something!

I put my sister's 'Kiss' belt on and sadly I don't know where that is from! but this is what the dress looks like from the back and the front. I got it from Miss Selfridge for £20.00 in the sales! It was originally £39.99!

You can purchase the dress here if you like.

I did my make up very basic, I used moisturizer, concealer, foundation, powder, eyebrow pencil and lipstick to create this look. I also straightened my hair and just left it straight for the night!

The lipstick I used was the NYC 432 Red Rapture from Superdrug for £1.99

My nails were gold. I didn't do any nail art for this year as I thought just plain gold looked elegant and smart for this occasion

I accessorized with the following items!

I got this skull ear cuff from Claire's Accessories for £4.00

I used my sister's Iphone bag case which she got from Urban Outfitters, I'm not too sure how much it was but it's sparkly and really useful for a night out!
I wore my silver and pink necklace that I got from New Look that I got sometime a go and can't remember the price! You can always wear something similar!

I'm not someone who usually wears rings but I found this cute little ring at Claire's Accessories for £3.50

I hope your 2014 brings you lots of great things and I hope that 2013 was good to you!
See you in my next post,
                                     Jess xo
