How To Study For Exams

Hey Guys,

It's pretty much exam season now and seeing as I've been through it all before I thought I would share some helpful tips on how to study for your exams

Everyone dreads the thought of taking exams. It's one of many powerful things that takes over your mind with panic and leads to a lot of stress, but with a few tips from here you shouldn't have a problem!

The main key to passing your exams is to REVISE. People will tell you time and time again that you need to revise constantly. So here are a few ways you can revise!

*Write things on sticky notes
Use certain colours for different topics, that way you'll remember that pink indicates Algebra! And then stick them around your room.

*Make sure you take away distractions!
Turn your phone off and put it somewhere where you won't be tempted to look at it. Turn all electronic devices off and turn your brain on ;)

*When highlighting make sure you only highlight the keywords and points.
Some people go mad and highlight the whole paragraph but this isn't needed.

*Use your text book and useful websites to help
Take notes from your text book and use a good and reliable website to help you as well. Don't use Wikipedia! You can also find useful revision books that can help you which are available in WhSmiths.

*Quiz yourself with family or friends
Your text book and revision book has questions to test you on what you know. Once you have revised a topic, answer a few questions about the topic. You could write the questions on one side of a cue card and then write the answer on the back and the give the cards to a family member or friend to test you. You could even play a game where you write the questions on a pink cue card and the answers on a blue cue car and you have to match them up. That way you're ready for any question to be thrown at you!

*Make a plan!
It's always good to make an exam calendar. I made one when I was taking exams and it felt so good to be organised. Just write down when your exams are on the calendar and then write when you feel is best to revise for the exam. You can give yourself a days rest of course. Make sure you give yourself adequate timings for revision, you could follow your original school time table if you like.

*Take breaks!
Make sure you always take a break. If you feel like stress is getting to you then take a 15 minute break to wind down a little. It's always good to give yourself a break, it's rewarding and you can concentrate more.

*Make studying fun
Be creative with your studies. You could write songs to help you remember the order of things. There's always a way to remember something even if you have to make something silly up, it really helps you and even others when helping each other.

*Keep yourself hydrated!
Keeping hydrated is mega important whether you're revising or not but this keeps you going for longer and really helps you concentrate, just be careful not to spill it!

I hoped this helped you and took your mind at ease for your on coming exams. You have nothing to worry about. A little bit of revision goes a long way.
